untitled   one

knowing you to be away
i enter your room,   look around for the
piles of clothing
books a week ago last
paper scattered where they fell when maybe
embraced you. recall you tidied
uncharacteristically away
before leaving,

sit on the bed
which empty mourns its loss of you
,weep with the pillows.

the walls strangely are silent
reluctant to let me
disturb them from reliving your
& the gasfire
refuses to light as if to warn me against
remembering the lasttime you knelt
between us.

gather into my arms the dress you always
wear ,bury my face
in it as i bury my fears in
your loving
breathe you wholly in

until i do not feel alone

(knowing you to be away
